Weight Loss Surgery Lowers Your Risk Of Developing Type II Diabetes

For years the medical field has seen incredible results in treating type 2 diabetes with weight loss surgery. I’ve personally treated countless patients who no longer needed their diabetes medication after undergoing a weight loss procedure. Now new research shows that in addition to reversing type 2 diabetes, weight loss surgery can also significantly reduce your risk of developing the condition to begin with. For this study, researchers selected 2,100 obese individuals without diabetes who had undergone weight loss surgery. They then matched them for age, sex, BMI, and blood sugar levels with 2,100 obese individuals without diabetes who had not undergone weight loss surgery. After seven years, the obese individuals who had bariatric surgery had an 80% lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes than the control group that had no form of surgical intervention. This is something everyone should be aware of, as it’s important to know the negative effects excess weight has on your heal
